Algebra Blessett at The ARTisan Cafe

Last Friday I attended a dope little event featuring Algebra Blessett at The ARTisan Cafe! This was my first time at The ARTisan Cafes' new location in Stony Point! While waiting for Algebra Blessett to perform, I made my way around the gallery and was immediatly drawn to an artist that was doing a live painting, which was amazing! Some beautiful handmade pieces also caught my eye, along with some great jewelry and natural hair and body products. The ARTisan Cafe is host to many handmade goods and clothing from local Artisans, so if you're in the Richmond area you definitely want to check them out! Now back to Ms. Algebra Blessett; she came out introduced herself and did a quick little QA with the audience! Her energy and aura are amazing, she has such an uplifting vibe which I really enjoyed. Her voice is absolutely beautiful, listening to her sing and play the guitar definitely put me in a zone. She sang lots of new material along with a few songs from past albums, the crowd was great and the setting was perfect for this type of Artist! If you're a fan of great music please support this sister and pick up her new album "Recovery", you can thank me later!

Naturals of RVA presents Fall Natural Hair Mixer

Ok, can I just start by saying I'm loving the natural hair scene that has really swept through Richmond over the past few years! I've been natural for 10 years now, and can honestly say in the beginning of my journey there was nothing happening in this city in regards to women with natural hair! You Tube was my best friend and of course good ol' Google was there anytime I needed to look something up. That my friend is no longer the case, RVA now is home to a number of natural hair shows, events, and various meet ups. Naturals of RVA, is one of those groups thats helping to further educate and bring together naturals in the Richmond area. This group host various meet ups throughout the year, and their members have access to their website, which has a great forum where naturals and transitioners can find answers to all questions dealing with natural hair. Naturals of RVA is hosting their Fall Natural Hair Mixer this month on October 17th, at the ARTisan Cafe from 6-9pm. If you're natural or thinking about transitioning you definitely should attend, there will be product giveaways, hair demos, along with some great natural hair info. To RSVP for this event please visit www.meetup.com/naturalsofrva

Eileen Fisher Fall Fashion Preview at Saks

So, a few weeks ago I attended Eileen Fisher's Fall Fashion Preview at Saks Fifth Ave, the event was hosted by the beautiful Tai Beauchamp a Style Correspondent and Fashionista from InStyle Magazine! I love events that are hosted at Saks because they never disappoint. Immediatly upon walking into the event I was greeted with the the lastest issue of InStyle Magazine, and a nice glass of Champagne! I mean who doesn't want to sip on a glass of Champagne, while watching models display Eileen Fisher's beautiful collection. There were a lot of classic pieces in this years fall collection including blazers, ponchos, and the basic black pant. One of my fav pieces from this collection had to be a chic black blazer with leather detailing on the sleeves, that I was immediatly drawn too. After the show I got a chance to chat it up with Tai Beauchamp, and discovered that we we're both from Central New Jersey, shes an amazing person and has accomplished so much, definitely an inspiration to me! Here are a few pics of the actual showcase and some of the pieces from the Fall Collection, enjoy!

Designers from Richmond, Charlottesville, Puerto Rico, VA Beach etc. will come together over a four day period and put together a wonderful showcase of modern and original pieces! Lace and Leather

Lace and leather go so well together (I really didn't mean for that to rhyme, but since it does I'll roll with it)! I love the toughness and edginess that adding a leather piece to an outfit can bring, on the other hand I love the softness and feminine touch that adding a piece of lace also brings. This has to be one of my fav combos this season; it makes for a very chic look! In addition to leather & lace I'm really diggin' this Fall's hat trend! I've always loved hats and think they are often that extra pop that's needed in an outfit to take it to the next level! Here are some pieces that are on my October wishlist, all priced at under $100!

An evening out...

What $21 gets you Thrifting!

So I went thrifting this past weekend at The Clothes Rack (2618 W Cary St), and one of my fav spots in RVA, Fan Tastic Thrift which is located at 1914 W Main Street. Anytime I go into this store I'm bound to find something, I normally will just pop in on a whim, this particular visit I was looking for something in particular. I'm a huge fan of the plaid trend that I've been seeing more and more of lately, so I wanted to see if I could find a knee length Tartan skirt. Its crazy because I remember having so many of these when I was younger, and hated them, of course I'm absoutly in love with them now (isn't that always how it goes). Anyway I didn't find exactly what I was looking for just yet, but I did score and find two other great skirts and a clutch, all of which cost $21 a major steal in my book! Both of the skirts are basically knee length and fully lined which I can appreciate in any nice skirt or dress! One is 100% Wool so it will definitely keep me super warm being that the weather is changing so rapidly! I cant wait to pair these skirts with a great pair of knee boots, tights, and a chunky sweater. I'm starting to build my winter wardrobe and can honestly say I'm ready for some cold weather!
