This is going to be a huge event with over 50 vendors on board, plus lots of workshops and consultations will be going on throughout day! Guest speakers include Jonna Scott- Blakes from Naturally Glam and Jenell B Stewart from Kinky Curly Coily Me, in addition to all things natural hair expect to walk away with some great fitness, fashion, and make-up tips! Twist and Talk

Event alert for all my fellow naturals- mark your calendars for July 13th for the Summer edition of Twist and Talk- a hands on twist class .Twist and Talk is a class taught by Lenise Robinson a stylist at Canvas the Salon. The event will take place at 6:30 pm- the salon is located on Clay Street in the heart of the city (more dets. below). We all know how hard it can be to find styles that work on natural hair textures during the warm Summer months, so what better way to learn then to attend a class that will focus on protective styling, techniques, products, and hair maintenance. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for Children. Yours truly will be a hair model, Lenise will be demonstrating her twisting technique on my tresses, so I'm super excited to not only be attending but being a hair model as well! If you've been following my blog for a while you know that my staple style is a blow-out, I love a good full blow-out! I don't wear my hair in its natural state nearly as much as I wear it straightened so I'm excited to be getting twisted up! All my RVA bloggers, vloggers, and small business owners please mark your calenders for this Friday's Pose N Post Symposium presented by Chrisette Michele and Rich Hipster. You definitely don't want to miss this event, come out and learn how to build your social media presence organically with Chrisette Michele and a couple of your favorite vloggers and bloggers from the YouTube and Instagram world. During her 8 city tour Chrisette Michele will be discussing topics such as natural hair in the workplace and how to achieve success through social media. There will also be an intimate performance by Miss Chrisette of course, which I'm so looking forward to! I had the privilege of attending one of her concerts here last summer at The Hipp; to say the least her voice is absolutely amazing, she's a great live performer, and when she started scatting I about lost my mind! I'm so excited that the tour is making a stop in Richmond and that I'll be covering the event for BarclayINC, I cant wait to re cap this event for those of you that cant attend! For those interested in attending, its definitely a great way to network with like minded individuals right here in the Richmond area. As I always say the art scene here is really flourishing and if we want it to continue to thrive we have to support events like this along with supporting each other. Product Review: Beyond The Zone Heat Protectant

Hey ladies, I just wanted to share a quick little vlog I did last night about Beyond The Zone Heat Protectant! As a natural that straightens I always make sure to use a good quality heat protectant to protect my curls/hair from heat damage! Being that I love big full hair even when blown out, (IE Kelis, Tracee Ellis Ross) I look for a product that's light, non- greasy and wont weigh my hair down. Beyond The Zone Turn Up The Heat did the trick, I love the fact that this product comes in a spray bottle, the consistency is very light, and it smells amazing. I highly recommend this product to naturals that use heat, it will leave your hair light and flowy, for $7 bucks you really can't beat it!

Return of The Curls: Curls Around The World Tour

Well my fellow naturals I am happy to announce that I am a part of this years Return of The Curls Bloggers crew! If you remember a few posts back I spoke at the Return of The Curls Holiday Trunk Show, I had such an amazing time that I decided to team up with them again and get on board with this years Curls Around The World Tour! The tour will be hitting some great city's this year including Los Angeles, Greensboro, Louisville, and of course Richmond. I will be working alongside with some wonderful Natural Hair and Fashion Bloggers, I'm so excited about whats to come in the upcoming months! I'll be updating the blog frequently with information on the Curls Around The World Tour upcoming shows, some great natural hair info, and what you ladies can expect when you attend a show or any Return of The Curls event!

My Staple Style- Vlog now up!

Hey Ladies, I did another vlog today just talking a little bit about my regimen and how I achieve my curls by pin curling my hair! I also discuss my love of Suave Daily Clarifying shampoo and Aussie Moist conditioner both of which I've been using for years. I typically wash my hair every 7 days or so and deep condition when necessary, I don't use a lot of products on my hair, I keep things pretty simple when it comes to my regimen. I was a product junkie for years, and got way out of hand I still have a ton of different unused products under my sink, I'm truly happy that over time I've figured out what works for me! I'm going to try to do at least 2 vlogs a month discussing my hair regi and my staple products so be on the look for more to come!

My First Vlog!

I decided that I wanted to start vlogging in 2014, just as an extension of the blog! I feel like vlogs can provide a little more intimate experience and I really want to be more interactive with my readers this year, and take BarclayINC in a different direction! I decided to record my first vlog a few days ago in between taking pics for an up and coming post that I'll be bringing you ladies about some new lippies I recently purchased. So this is basically a clean unedited version of me, videos will get better with time so just bare with me ladies! Return of The Curls!

Sunday I attended Return of The Curls Holiday Trunk Show, which was hosted by the lovely Keenya Kelly! There were lots of local vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry to natural hair products! I got a chance to chat with some of the vendors, and even walked away with a beautiful pair of handmade earrings which were gifted to me by Tori Stamps of Holey Moley Earrings! I was super excited because I was asked to come out and do a segment on dressing for your body type during the holidays. I had an amazing time talking to the ladies about essential pieces that every women should have in her closet, and I also touched a little on thrifting! Im definitely looking forward to doing more segments like this in the future, I'm really becoming a fan of public speaking! Here are a few pics of me speaking at the event enjoy!

Return of The Curls presents Holiday Trunk Show

All my RVA naturals, transitioners, and whomever else simply wants to come out and attend a great event you'll have your opportunity to this Sunday at Return of The Curls Holiday Trunk Show! I attended the event last year and had a wonderful time, there were tons of naturals there, along with some great vendors and even a few hair demos. I left with some great goodies last year including some beautiful jewelery and a few hair products. The event is being held at the Richmond Magnuson Grand Hotel from 2pm-6pm, tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door! I would also like to mention that I will be speaking this year, yes yours truly has been selected as the featured Fashion Blogger for the event. I will be talking about dressing for your body type during the holidays and will also be covering this seasons trends, and one of my favorite things to do thrifting! When I go to events like this I normally bring my sis along and a few of my girls who are also natural, like myself a few of my naturals friend wear their hair blown out majority of the time. When we get to the events and they see naturals rocking their curls they always say "I should've rocked my curls"! Ladies wear your hair how you like natural is natural if you don’t have a relaxer, keratin, silkner or any other type of chemical straighter you're natural in my book. We have to stop this divide in the natural hair community it’s what I like to call the "you can’t sit with us" syndrome. Just because some choose to rock their curls and others prefer to blow their hair out doesn’t make you more or less natural; as long as your hair is healthy that’s all that matters (rant over)! So whether you're a natural that prefers straighten/ blown out hair or you’re a natural that loves to rock your fro please come out and support this event there will be a little something for everyone!

Naturals of RVA Fall Meet Up

I went to my first natural hair meet up last month; the meet up was hosted by Shakira and Melani from Naturals of RVA! Women of all ages were in attendance, I loved the fact that everyone was at a different stage in their natural hair journey, it made for great conversation! Some of the ladies were new to being natural and some had been natural for years like myself, as I made my way around the room I got a chance to mingle and chat with the other naturals about hair products and techniques! Our lovely host Shakira even did a few style demos, which are always nice to see live and in living color, especially when your style challenged like me! There were some great product giveaways as well, my sis even came out to the event for a little while and ended up winning a few bottles of Hydratherma Naturals products! If you’re in the RVA area and you're natural or thinking about transitioning, I would definitely suggest checking out Naturals of RVA, they have meet ups throughout the year at various locations in the city!

Ok, can I just start by saying I'm loving the natural hair scene that has really swept through Richmond over the past few years! I've been natural for 10 years now, and can honestly say in the beginning of my journey there was nothing happening in this city in regards to women with natural hair! You Tube was my best friend and of course good ol' Google was there anytime I needed to look something up. That my friend is no longer the case, RVA now is home to a number of natural hair shows, events, and various meet ups. Naturals of RVA, is one of those groups thats helping to further educate and bring together naturals in the Richmond area. This group host various meet ups throughout the year, and their members have access to their website, which has a great forum where naturals and transitioners can find answers to all questions dealing with natural hair. Naturals of RVA is hosting their Fall Natural Hair Mixer this month on October 17th, at the ARTisan Cafe from 6-9pm. If you're natural or thinking about transitioning you definitely should attend, there will be product giveaways, hair demos, along with some great natural hair info. Day Trip to VA Beach

Saturday my babe and I decided to hit the road and head to Virginia Beach, which is roughly about 2 hours away from Richmond. We just wanted a change of scenery which we often do, so we find ourselves hitting the road most weekends just to get away for a bit. We got to the beach around 8 or so just as the sun was beginning to set, ended up grabbing dinner at one of our fav restaurants McCormick & Schmicks, and walked the strip and sat on the beach until around 2am. It was such a nice spur of the moment mini getaway, there's something so peaceful and serene about the beach at night! It was so quiet the sounds of the waves crashing on the shore was all I could hear, needless to say it was the perfect way to spend my Saturday! Here are a couple of candids of me at VA Beach..

Summer Hair...

After months and months of contemplating on whether I wanted to get highlights, all over color, or ombre, I finally decided on highlights and a fresh cut! I must say I'm really loving my hair at the moment, it looks and feels amazing. There's nothing like big full sexy hair, I'm natural and have been for over 10 years, so my hair handles color really well. I make sure to wash and condition my hair using super moisturizing products. I'm currently using Shea Moistures Curl & Shine Shampoo and I follow up with one of my staple conditioners Aussie Moist. I've been using Aussie Moist for years especially on days when I leave my hair curly, and it always makes my curls pop and keeps my hair moisturized, who knew it work just as good when I straighten! Here are a few candid’s of my highlights and cut!

Weekend Goodies!!

This past weekend I attended the Return of The Curls Holiday Trunk Show in Richmond, VA, the turn out was great the place was packed. I really planned on taking pictures once I got in the venue, but there were so many people that just trying to maneuver around the room was a struggle. There were lots of great vendors I spent about $40 bucks and left with lots of little goodies. I love events like this where local merchants come out sell products and network.. Being that I'm natural events of this nature always draw me in!! I pretty much have a solid regimen when it comes to my hair, I have my staple products and styles, however I still keep my eyes open for interesting products to try every now and then. I purchased a Green Tea & Coconut Conditioner Bar from Tree Naturals, the ingredients look delish, cant wait to try it!! I also left with a lovely new lip gloss from Mod Gyrl Cosmetics, this gloss is the best so thick and heavy concentrated with color it lasts for hours, I will be purchasing more glosses in the future from Mod Gyrl Cosmetics!! I also purchased a red faux leather bracelet, along with a couple pairs of earrings from The Jewelry Box and Fabulosity Jewelz both of which are located in Richmond...Here are a few pics of my look and my goodies!!
