Grand Opening: Soul.Eil

RVA First Friday's April installment is right around the corner, and thank goodness the weather here in RVA will be in 70's, so it should be a beautiful night! With such a brutal Winter I haven't been to any First Friday's festivities in months, so I'm really looking forward to getting back on the scene this week! With that being said the Grand Opening of Soul.Eil will be taking place this Friday from 6-10 pm during RVA First Friday's, come out and network with other fashion lovers in the city. The boutique is located on Broad St. right in the heart of the Arts District, so you cant miss it. In the meantime you can check out their website to get a glimpse of the type of pieces they will be selling. There will be 2 DJ's all night, so it's going to be a pretty live event, of course I'll be there so if you spot me don't hesitate to come over and say hey!

My looks from RVA Fashion Week!

So, as you most likely already know if you're one of my regular readers, or you follow my Instagram I had the honor on being on board this year as one of RVA Fashion Week's badged bloggers. This gave me VIP access to all of the events that were being held all week long. Unfortunately with my busy schedule I wasn't able to attend my first event until Friday night, which was the Designer Showcase which was held at a new venue called The Broadberry! The energy in that room was absolutely amazing the show including designs from Chilalay, Abigail Mpofu, and lots of other wonderful local designers! When I arrived to the venue the line was already halfway down the sidewalk, so I knew this was going to be a pretty dope evening! I had access to a lovely VIP lounge that was lined with white sofas, I sat down for a few minutes but with a good DJ, drinks, and a room full of energetic souls I ended up standing for most of the night. My look for that night was something fun and light I ended up going with my leopard dress and faux leather vest, which I actually wore to VA Fashion Week last year. Yes, I'm definitely a repeat offender, I mean why buy something if your only going to wear it once or twice, its so funny because I have friends that are like "I cant wear that again I've already posted pictures on Insta with me in this outfit", I am definitely not that girl! If anything I love showing how to create various looks utilizing the same pieces. So, anyway I paired it with my Timbs, which were perfect being that I was on my feet all night. I went with a bit more dressier looks for that other events I attended over the weekend which were the Boutique Fashion Show, which was held at The National and the City Skyline Trunk Show at City Hall Observation Deck. On Saturday night I went with my white crochet H&M dress, wooden cut- out LuLu's platforms, and my favorite yellow clutch from Anne Taylor, and on Sunday I decided to go with my vintage yellow beaded top I purchased from Fan Tastic Thrift, high-waisted pip- lined black pants from H&M, and my ASOS heels! Here are some amazing shoots captured my my good friend and photographer David Lowell!

As soon as I walked up to the venue I saw my Dress Twin and fellow blogger from River City Uprising! She looked so pretty and was really sweet so of course we had to take some pics together!

My bracelet was actually hooked on to my dress at this point lol!

Excuse my wind blown expression its super windy atop 20 stories, I did the best I could : )

I ended up running into an old co worker/ friend of mine whom I've known for many years and fell in love with her super edgy cut!

This is when I actually took advantage of the wind per the direction of my friend/ photographer it made for some really dope shots.

Stay tuned for more to come on my experiences at RVAFW coming later this week, have a wonderful week folks!

Crop Tops!

One of my favorite Spring/ Summer trends has to be the crop top! I've been a fan of crops for years, as they have been a staple in my wardrobe as long as I can remember. So, I'm super happy that I have stocked The Barclay Boutique with these super cute mock neck black crops, perfect to pair with high waisted jeans or shorts, and of course they look amazing with long flowy skirts. Ladies make sure to check out TheBarclayBoutique.bigcartel.com for all you summer essentials. Bianca Flair

I love the fact that RVA's fashion scene has really taken off over the past few years. I've noticed a lot of new boutiques and consignment shops sprouting up throughout the city and I'm loving it! Saturday I had the pleasure of visiting Bianca Flair, which is a resale and consignment shop that opened up this past March. I'll start off by saying that the location of this boutique is perfect, not only is it located in the heart of the city but its also surrounded by VCU's campus, which makes it accessible to so many students, and passersby! Bianca Flair had so many pieces that caught my eye, from great accessories to dresses and shoes, if you're a fan of consignment shops you definitely want to add this boutique to your list. I got the opportunity to meet and chat with the owner of Bianca Flair, Ms. Kimberly Newsome she is an amazing individual she was so warm and welcoming. We ended up talking for over an hour about her boutique and life itself, it was a great conversation to say the least. I cant wait for my next visit to Bianca Flair, and if you're in the Richmond or VCU area please stop by this amazing boutique and check it out!

Clementine

Yesterday I attended a back room shopping event at Clementine, an adorable consignment shop/ boutique in Carytown.  I'm a huge fan of consignment shops so I was excited to attend the event, and be able to check out the back room goodies! I must say I'm now a fan of Clementine, they have everything from Evan Picone blazers to Chanel bags, I was really pleased with the selection of designer denim as well. I scored a great pair of earrings and a unique little gold cuff, I got both for $25 which is definitely a steal in my opinion. They have pieces for every budget, I eyed some really cute skirts for 12 bucks, along with a ton of cute jewelry that was priced very reasonably. I walked through the store and made my way to the back room, which was filled with racks of beautiful dresses, tops, shoes, and shorts you name it they had it. Its one of those stores where you're bound to leave with something every time you visit! Ladies you should definitely take a peak inside of this lovely shop whenever you're in the Carytown area!
