My looks from RVA Fashion Week!

So, as you most likely already know if you're one of my regular readers, or you follow my Instagram I had the honor on being on board this year as one of RVA Fashion Week's badged bloggers. This gave me VIP access to all of the events that were being held all week long. Unfortunately with my busy schedule I wasn't able to attend my first event until Friday night, which was the Designer Showcase which was held at a new venue called The Broadberry! The energy in that room was absolutely amazing the show including designs from Chilalay, Abigail Mpofu, and lots of other wonderful local designers! When I arrived to the venue the line was already halfway down the sidewalk, so I knew this was going to be a pretty dope evening! I had access to a lovely VIP lounge that was lined with white sofas, I sat down for a few minutes but with a good DJ, drinks, and a room full of energetic souls I ended up standing for most of the night. My look for that night was something fun and light I ended up going with my leopard dress and faux leather vest, which I actually wore to VA Fashion Week last year. Yes, I'm definitely a repeat offender, I mean why buy something if your only going to wear it once or twice, its so funny because I have friends that are like "I cant wear that again I've already posted pictures on Insta with me in this outfit", I am definitely not that girl! If anything I love showing how to create various looks utilizing the same pieces. So, anyway I paired it with my Timbs, which were perfect being that I was on my feet all night. I went with a bit more dressier looks for that other events I attended over the weekend which were the Boutique Fashion Show, which was held at The National and the City Skyline Trunk Show at City Hall Observation Deck. On Saturday night I went with my white crochet H&M dress, wooden cut- out LuLu's platforms, and my favorite yellow clutch from Anne Taylor, and on Sunday I decided to go with my vintage yellow beaded top I purchased from Fan Tastic Thrift, high-waisted pip- lined black pants from H&M, and my ASOS heels! Here are some amazing shoots captured my my good friend and photographer David Lowell!

As soon as I walked up to the venue I saw my Dress Twin and fellow blogger from River City Uprising! She looked so pretty and was really sweet so of course we had to take some pics together!

My bracelet was actually hooked on to my dress at this point lol!

Excuse my wind blown expression its super windy atop 20 stories, I did the best I could : )

I ended up running into an old co worker/ friend of mine whom I've known for many years and fell in love with her super edgy cut!

This is when I actually took advantage of the wind per the direction of my friend/ photographer it made for some really dope shots.

Stay tuned for more to come on my experiences at RVAFW coming later this week, have a wonderful week folks!

The Forgotten Ones...

How many pieces of clothing do you have in your closet that you just don't wear? I asked myself this question after recently reading an article somewhere that stated that most women only utilize about 30% of their closets! Shocking numbers if you ask me, I mean of course we can be emotional shoppers, along with spur of the moment shoppers, along with I'm going out Friday night and need a new outfit type of shoppers, but really we're only wearing 30% of the items we've bought! So my goal this weekend was to go through my closet and pull out all the pieces I had with price tags still on them, along with pieces that had simply just been forgotten about and shoved to the back of my closet! I'm so glad I did this before I went on my Spring/ Summer mini haul, because to my surprise I found a ton of great pieces that I bought and just never wore before, along with items that I only wore once or twice. I pulled all my newly found pieces to the front of my closet, that way I could see them and begin to incorporate them into my Spring/ Summer wardrobe. Here is a small portion of some of the hidden treasures I found in my closet, stay tuned to see how I style these items and give them a fresh, fun, and modern look!

Marciano by Guess? This top is a decade old I remember I bought it the summer after high-school graduation!

Urban Outfitters purchased last Summer never worn!

Urban Outfitters I bought this piece to wear to my sisters surprise party and never wore it again, that was 3 Summers ago..

BEBE Sandals worn a few times purchased 3 summers ago..

I love wedge heels!

Love these I purchased them 2 Summers ago from LuLu's.com, and wore them for an hour one night and threw them in the back of the closet, completely forgot I had them!

These remind me of candy, so bright and fun!

Prabal Gurung purchased these last Spring but only wore them twice, I noticed a lot of bloggers wearing these in the winter. More power to them sandals and cold temps just don't mix.

Forever21 sweetheart cut dress, purchased 4 summers ago and wore once to a Chris Rock Comedy Show.

I love the cut and detailing on this dress, hanging on the hanger does it no justice it fits perfectly, very snug at the waist and creates a nice silhouette!

Vintage and never worn before, this was gifted to me about 5 years ago!

The details and sequins on this skirt are amazing!

Just amazing!

Thirfted vintage skirt, I love how flowy and light this piece is!

I also love the tiered hemline!

Love this piece I purchased from ASOS last Spring as I was gearing up to go to Jamaica, I never wore it as I stayed in a bikini for most of the trip!

Love the back detailing on this pieces, so glad I came across it--it was still folded up in the bag it was ship to me in..smh

Love this Vintage dress I purchased last Summer, at Fan Tastic Thrift in RVA

Love the way the front of this dress drapes super low but yet doesnt reveal anything its super sexy, it just falls over my body ever so nicely. another piece that looks better on than hanging on the hanger!

Ladies, what forgotten items do you have thrown in the back of the closet, take some time to look you'll be surprised at what you find!

Holiday Mini Haul!!

Going out to shop on Black Friday wasn't an option for me, packed malls, crowded stores, and people stepping all over each other isn't really my thing! I like to shop in peace when stores aren't busy, and I have first dibs on the fitting room...I went to the mall Monday night and it looked like a ghost town, I got a great parking space and was in and out of stores in no time. There were no long lines to wait in, so it was nothing but smiles over here.. I needed a few sweaters so I stopped at my usual stores Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, and H&M. I also purchased a few dresses, a parka, and a pair of pumps online from two of my fav stores ASOS and LuLu's, I cant wait for them to arrive!! I must say I found better deals online than I did in the actual stores, ASOS was offering an extra 30% off of any item, and I believe LuLu's gave an additional 15% off!! I purchased the dresses, shoes, and jacket for under $200 bucks!!
